The Director of Worship & Production is responsible for the musical and technical production leadership of City Church. The purpose of Sunday Gatherings at our church is to create space for engaging with Jesus, the Scriptures, and the Church.
This role is responsible for executing that purpose through everything that happens on stage and in the production booth–artistically, spiritually, and operationally. The Director will build, train, schedule, and shepherd volunteer teams of musicians, vocalists and production volunteers, while also developing producers who can carry responsibility when the Director is leading from stage.

- Select, arrange, and execute song selection and music that aligns with the church’s vision, theology, and teaching calendar (in coordination with Pastor of Vision & Teaching)

- Recommend investment in new tech which would enhance the Gatherings and/or help maintain a distraction-free environment
- Lead & facilitate Sunday Sync meetings
Volunteer Leadership
- Build, care for, and lead volunteer teams for worship and production
- Recruit, develop, and empower volunteer leaders (producers) who can lead the tech crews and execute services when the Director is on stage or off-duty
- Identify and develop capable worship leaders to fill in as needed
- Create training pathways, documentation, and rhythms that equip volunteers to grow in skill and confidence
- Foster a culture of excellence, ownership, humility, and joy in your area of oversight
Systems, Scheduling & Planning
- Own full responsibility for all worship and production scheduling
- Create sustainable systems that minimize last-minute stress and burnout
- Lead rehearsals that are well-prepared, efficient, and relationally healthy
- Partner with other staff (City Kids , Events, Communications, etc.) to support integrated services and events requiring production oversight
Staff & Church Collaboration
- Collaborate closely with pastoral leadership to align worship and production with the church’s mission, vision and teaching calendar
- Actively participate in staff meetings and church-wide initiatives
- Contribute creatively and strategically to the future direction of worship and production ministry
Qualifications & Experience
Required
- Strong musical leadership experience in leading worship in a church of similar or greater size or complexity
- Instrumental proficiency and ability to lead band rehearsals (vocal abilities preferred)
- Demonstrated ability to lead, train, and develop volunteer teams
- Working knowledge of modern worship production environments (audio, lighting, and projection)
- Strong organizational and communication abilities
- Ability to both lead from the stage and empower others
Preferred
- Experience developing volunteer leaders
- Familiarity with production software and systems (e.g., ProPresenter, Planning Center, digital consoles)
- Experience collaborating with pastors in service planning
- A heart for building systems that serve people (as opposed to using people to build systems)
What Success Looks Like
- Sunday Gatherings are spiritually vibrant, technically excellent, and distraction-free
- Volunteers feel equipped, valued, and led
- Build a team of leaders who can run rehearsals and services with confidence
- A Worship & Production ministry that reflects our church’s mission, vision, and culture

Working for City Church
As a growing church, we are always seeking to add passionate, team-oriented people to our team. In an effort to create anand encouraging and invigorating work environment, employment at City Church comes with a number of perks:
- Actual days off. Staff members at City Church get Fridays and Saturdays off each week. We honor these days off fully, and you will rarely (if ever) receive work-related texts or have weekend expectations while working for our church.
- Church-sponsored counseling. We budget for any staff member wanting it to receive professional counseling. We recognize the toll that ministry employment can take, and want to resource our staff members well to process it all with professional help.
- Professional development. Each staff member has access to our professional development budget, which can be used for conferences, retreats, trainings, and classes that further their personal and professional development.
- Holidays and vacations. City Church recognizes most U.S. federal holidays. Full-time employees also start with ten vacation days, not including a built-in week off around Christmas each calendar year.
