Role Overview
The Church Next Door is a dynamic, non-denominational church in the greater Columbus area with the mission of Moving People Closer to God. We are seeking a Christ-centered, musically gifted, and relational Worship Leader to lead our congregation of 450 in weekend worship and special events. As a non-denominational church, we value a modern, biblically-sound worship experience that engages a multi-generational audience. This is more than a "gig"—we are looking for a leader who will become an active member of our church family and help us reach the West Columbus community.
Key Responsibilities
- Worship Leading:
- Plan, prepare, and lead weekly worship services in alignment with the church’s vision and teaching themes
- Select songs and arrangements that are theologically sound and culturally relevant
- Lead rehearsals and services with excellence, energy, and authenticity
- Collaborate with pastors and creative teams to ensure cohesive services
- Team Development:
- Recruit, train, and disciple worship team members (musicians and vocalists)
- Build a strong, healthy volunteer culture rooted in encouragement and growth
- Schedule and organize teams for weekly services and special events
- Creative & Production Collaboration:
- Work closely with the production/tech team to ensure high-quality audio, visual, and online experiences
- Contribute to creative planning for special services, events, and series
- Help develop and maintain a consistent worship culture and sound
- Spiritual Leadership:
- Model a growing, authentic relationship with Jesus Christ
- Provide pastoral care and encouragement to team members
- Foster an atmosphere of worship that invites participation and spiritual engagement
- Perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- Spiritual Maturity: A visible, growing relationship with Jesus Christ as evidenced by a personal testimony of the transforming power of Christ in their life and a lifestyle that aligns with biblical leadership.
- Commitment to the Church’s statement of faith and Staff Covenant
- Experience: Previous experience leading worship in a mid-sized church and experience in building in leading teams.
- Musical Proficiency: Strong vocal ability and the skill to lead from either guitar or keys. Familiarity with modern worship music and trends.
- Commitment: Must be willing to commit to the mission, vision and purpose of The Church Next Door.
- Availability: Availability for evening and weekend commitments, as needed.
Skills & Competencies
- Musical Excellence: Strong vocal ability and musicianship
- Leadership: Ability to lead both from the platform and behind the scenes
- Communication: Clear, encouraging, and effective with teams and leadership
- Organization: Able to plan services, manage schedules, and coordinate volunteers
- Adaptability: Comfortable in both structured and spontaneous worship environments
- Tech Awareness: Working knowledge of worship technology (Planning Center, ProPresenter, in-ear monitors, etc.)
- Creativity: Ability to help shape meaningful, engaging worship moments
Preferred (Not Required)
- Experience with multitracks, click tracks, and modern worship production
- Background in songwriting or arranging
- Experience in a multi-service or growing church environment
PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT
The position works in a church environment where the employee is regularly required to speak, see, hear, sit, stand, type, walk and bend while moving about the facility. The noise level in the facility is moderate.

Compensation & Hours
- Hours: 20 hours per week (including weekend services, midweek rehearsal, and prep time). Work schedules may vary depending on the needs of the church and may include special events and rehearsals outside of regular work hours
- Salary: $25,000 - 30,000/yr based upon experience.
